Pichincha is a volcano that sits conveniently at the edge of Quito. A teleferico lets you ride halfway up in comfort — after that, the hiking gets progressively more difficult. The views are absolutely stunning, though, and well worth the effort!
Just take a taxi to the teleferico. Bring warm gear if you want to hike — including gloves, hat, and fleece. It gets quite chilly. The only other things you’ll need are snacks, plenty of water, and a camera.
